Our 2015 European Adventure

We packed up our things, had a last café crème and croissant breakfast. We were going to try the Café Tourville across the street from our hotel but they were too pricey so we went back to the café near our hotel. Then we were off on the Metro to the Gare de Lyon train station to buy tickets and then off to Dijon and then on to Beaune.

We arrived at about 2:00 p.m. and felt like we were in the middle of nowhere but we were just on the edge of town. We rolled our suitcases down the stairs to the station and then found a map and rolled our suitcases four blocks to the Hotel de la Cloche. Room 32 was a good size room with a “big bed” and a bathtub (love the French people and their priorities).

We wandered to some outside dining and wine drinking (many places were closed) and we had a glass of Cremant Rose (Lynn’s new favorite sparkling wine) and a glass of Pommard (Dave). After Lynn finished her Cremant she decided she liked my Pommard so I ordered a glass of Volnay. Too earthy for Lynn’s taste but we both enjoyed a dozen escargot.

More wandering around and then back to the hotel to rest up for dinner. Lynn had a salad with “French” dressing and (French) onion soup. I had beef Bourgogne with salad and frites. Lynn had a glass of Rully while I had a glass of Givny and then we both slept really well.
